Hobie isn't just punk,he's afropunk.He's a black punk.He's black and he was black before he was punk.If you define Hobie solely by punk culture and not black culture,you're being antiblack.Punk culture is black culture because black people created punk but we have a legit non-subculture outside of that,with universal elements and region and heritage specific bits.Love Hobie but respect him first.Gwen's not black but she's punk and she did and Miles is black but he's not punk and he did.You can too

Percy Jackson's anger and anti-authoritian mentality are so interesting because usually when a character has those traits,they're presented as flaws or cause them to go too far and become abusive but for Percy,they're unambigiously why he's the best hero in the entire saga.They're what allow him to come as far as he does and so much of the cast are grateful to him and admit they were in the wrong to dismiss him and notably Nico and Hazel look up to him BIG TIME over those things among basically everything else about him.They're also framed as valid trauma responses he's unfairly demonized for and it's made the whole point of Percy's backstory and a lot of the on-page story he never did or does anything bad but is stereotyped into seeming like he's ill-intentioned and stays good like always anyway.Not out of purity but out of rebellion.Percy is a punk,in every sense of the word that's recognized by the irl subculture and not the media created too water us down,just like what happens to Percy in the books in the eyes of the antagonists.Dark Percy would never happen and neither would God Percy,on Percy's psychological incapability of even considering selling out and knowing the gods weren't ever shit from the start all the way in Tlt.That alpha male Percy ahh au is lame as hell tbh and so're the old Pjoheads who glazed it so hard and still do yet never thought to show Percy participating in punk subculture.He definitely knows how to diy things that don't even exist and listens to all kinds of metal and owns those blue chunk bracelets and steals from food marts
